The via Selice

Today it branches out from the via Emilia East towards the motorway tollgate, crossing the industrial estate of the town. It then becomes a provincial road and further on a state road.

Originally it was a roman road which connected Imola to the seaside, which was nearer than today, and was used mainly for trade. It terminated in Caput Silicis, the present town of Conselice. It was Appio Claudio, Prefect of the roman army of Silla, who ordered the construction of this large road, 15 miles long, and which was all paved in flint-stones.
